And now it has emerged that thousands of teachers are stuck on temporary contracts.

Conservative FOI figures showed 4,951 Scottish teachers on temporary contracts in June 2023, including 489 in Aberdeenshire and 523 in Edinburgh, versus 31 in East Dunbartonshire.
