Its target, for several years, has been 1651 but falling school rolls means that the actual number of teachers needed is now more like 1620.

All parties on Falkirk Council backed a call for the Scottish Government to release £145.5m (Falkirk's share £4.5m) withheld over teacher numbers, calling its 1,651-teacher target 'artificial' as falling rolls meant about 1,620 were needed.
