Scottish Teacher Employment Survey 2026
Scottish Teachers for Permanence is gathering evidence about teachers' experiences of finding work, accessing supply teaching and securing stable employment in Scotland. We want to understand not simply whether teachers are technically employed, but whether qualified teachers are getting the amount and type of teaching work they actually want, how easy it is to access that work, and what happens when secure employment remains out of reach. The findings will be used to inform our campaigning and may be shared with the media, MSPs, the Scottish Parliament, local authorities and other organisations involved in teacher workforce planning. Throughout this survey, “since schools returned” means from when schools returned in your main council area in August 2026 until the date you complete this survey. Where you cannot remember an exact number, please give your best reasonable estimate. Most questions are multiple choice and you will only be shown questions relevant to your circumstances.
