Teaching experience: 1–5 years
Age: 20s

Following probation I was lucky enough to get a fixed term contract for 1 year.

I use the term lucky very lightly as it was the best outcome for the current state of teaching jobs. Following this year I waited 3 months for supply work.

I even replied to a supply email after 3 minutes of it being sent and I was not successful in securing the job that day.

This started to impact my mental health as I was sitting in the house daily waiting for supply work that just wasn’t coming. I then applied to be a school cleaner for mental stability and work.

I believed teaching was a job for life. Now I am filled with a lack of hope for what the future holds

Seeking a teaching post

Unfortunately, since returning to Glasgow, I have still been unable to secure a place on a supply list, and every application I have made for a primary teaching post, whether permanent or fixed-term, has been rejected before reaching interview stage.
