I’ve had 6 consecutive successful interviews during SLC group interviews. I have had service broken twice so I could not be automatically made permanent.

It is very difficult to discuss situation with council, they do not reply to emails, other than the standard we have received your mail auto response. Treated like a number to be used and dropped whenever suits, absolutely no job security. Dreadful experience after five years successive study and success at every interview.

This is answer 160 of the 269 written answers that teachers let us quote anonymously in the Scottish Teacher Employment Survey 2026. It answers the survey’s last question: what do the people who make decisions about teacher employment need to know?

We have corrected spelling, added paragraph breaks and removed details that could identify anyone. Words in square brackets are ours.
