I have been trying to get a job in central belt for over 2 years now so I can live with my long term partner. I have had 9 interviews and have not been successful in any due to not being known in these councils.

I am in three supply lists but have not received a single day supply. My mental health has suffered massively, my life plans have had to change and slow down, my finances are poor, I have to travel 100s of miles a week for work.

This is answer 37 of the 269 written answers that teachers let us quote anonymously in the Scottish Teacher Employment Survey 2026. It answers the survey’s last question: what do the people who make decisions about teacher employment need to know?
