Our council told us during our probationary year that it would take 2 years of continuous work to secure a guaranteed permanent post. 12 months later, I was doing a supply shift and was told in the staffroom that they had changed the permanency eligibility.

This led me to seek out a permanent post in ASN instead of mainstream primary as I couldn’t bring myself to put my life on hold if permanency was no longer guaranteed after 2 years as I may have not passed the interview.
