I am currently awaiting notification of employment following a successful interview I completed in March 2026 for this year’s [council's internal recruitment campaign; identifying details removed] in which I was told I was successful on the 1st of May 2026. It is now the 14th of August 2026 with teachers and pupils having returned to school and myself and many others now finding ourselves unemployed.

I have a first-class honours degree and a masters in education from the [university removed] and yet if I have heard nothing post September weekend in which this campaign officially closes, I am going to have to apply for Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) and am currently in the process of treating job hunting like a 9-5 job due to this.

Furthermore, I would like to add I have been working in [the same council] for 2 years having completed my probation year in the academic year of 2024-25 and having come to the end of a fixed term one year contract in the academic year of 2025-26. I worked hard at school and university and I feel that I have been let down by a failing system.
