Reduce the number of PGDE spaces, unfair that people that have done four years (5 in my case as I did the MEDUC) can’t find jobs. We were told in 2020 at the start of my degree that there was lots of jobs, by the time we were in second year that was no longer the case. Despite this, PGDE courses continued to have a large amount of students. This was frustrating and many in my year wondered what was the point of doing 5 years as there was no job.
Additionally, in my council there was only 2 jobs advertised in June for the 2026/27 session. I have managed to get a job 2 days a week at a school, however it is 40 minutes away from where I stay. The rise in fuel costs is a concern.
