It’s the most draining, anxiety-inducing process for those of us who have qualified and been through probation year and have to worry every summer about if they’ll have a job come August, or if their service will break, or if they can actually enjoy their summer.

I had an experience where my service broke because of a family member passing and the council wouldn’t allow any leeway for that with my service. I also think it’s awful that different councils offer different levels of service for permanency, it should be across the board of how much service you need to have.

I think that the need for teachers in class is so much, class sizes are getting bigger and the level of need is getting higher with no support, you aren’t getting it right for any child at that point.

The council leads sugar coat it and tell you they had the same thing happen to them and they got a permanent contract super quickly and they bought a house straight out of probation year. None of it is realistic.
