A huge part of the problem is also that there are many permanent part time teachers who for various reasons (mainly after having children) who have reduced their hours and once their children have started school have been told they cannot increase their hours to full time again.
I have been at a school since [year removed] and even after asking for supply work in my own school I was passed up for post NQTs. Of course they need work but the system seems to penalise older and experienced teachers.
