When with more than one local authority on supply, this means we pay more taxes as it is seen as a secondary job and can result in underpaid taxes from previous years as it’s unpredictable how long or what local authority will be the primary income.
By centralising supply staff and allocating them to schools for schools to utilise the staff however they see best would remove this issue not only solve every issue in schools. I suggested this and it would save £75 million in providing local authorities with funding for staff and the response was “that would be too much work to convene with all parties”.
I have been successful twice for permanent position only to be told later that afternoon that the position would be cancelled and an NQT would fill the position. Local authorities are abusing the NQT system and by extending it by three years would be catastrophic for the entire system.
