From a History point of view, jobs are increasingly looking for dual qualified teachers in both History and Modern Studies. This is often included as ‘essential’ criteria and so I find applications are quickly rejected. I would be willing to gain the university credits to teach Modern Studies, but can’t justify the cost whilst I do not have permanent employment.
