After completing my probation year and 2 fixed term contracts with the same council, I participated in the block interviews for permanent/fixed term posts and I found out I was successful in May 2026. In June 2026, I was offered a permanent post via email however, after contacting the HT I discovered there was an error on the council’s end of a “human error” where I received someone else’s offer under my name and employee number.
I received an apology for this error of receiving the wrong offer and was given reassurance that my name was “still on the list” and still being considered for posts until September weekend. After this distressing incident, I had 0 contact from recruitment except a generic email about beginning the process for the supply register at the end of September.
I first received job-seeker allowance in hopes it would only be a short period of time I would be waiting for work. Currently, I am working casual work to get by.
The impact of this whole process has led to looking for alternative work to pay bills etc and for more security for my future. I absolutely love teaching but this current situation has left me doubting whether teaching is a sensible choice in terms of financial security and wanting to start a family.
