If anyone in HR or even an MSP or the Director of Education got sacked every 23 months there would be a huge outcry. But it’s ok for them to do it to us.

Contracts cut at 23 months to stop permanent status

Scrap the cutting of contracts to stop the person gaining permanent status. It’s unethical. If someone has been paid by a council for 23 months. They have passed all Learning Visits. Been told they are valued.

What? Sack them and give them their P45 only to re-employ them in 2 weeks’ time. It’s wrong. It’s not right. If anyone in HR or even an MSP or the Director of Education got sacked every 23 months there would be a huge outcry. But it’s ok for them to do it to us.

It’s not right to get sacked and not know how much money you have coming in (they wouldn’t tell me what I was getting for holiday pay). I didn’t know I’d be back so was in a panic about trying to find work.

I’ve been interviewed for perm posts. But not been able to get them as I’m so nervous.

There seems to be NO route to become perm supply. Which I don’t understand. Surely if I’m good enough to have been employed since 2021 why can’t they make me perm supply.

Do I need to get pregnant before my current fixed term contract gets cut and go on mat leave so they can’t give me my P45 to become perm????

That’s mental to even think like that.

I completed my probation year 25/26 and was completely let down by my council who had promised us interviews for permanence from the start. They completely pivoted and told us it was unlikely we would receive any work until January 2027. When they did advertise jobs they had d…

From my probation cohort of 187 probationers, 5 were given permanency. It came at no surprise that all 5 of those people had a parent who was a head teacher in that authority. Some people went to the union about this clear show of nepotism, but they were told there was nothing…

The notion of introducing a 3 year probationary year is a true slap in the face for us who have travelled, built strong experience and worked hard. This is merely a way to cut budgets for “expensive” teachers and continue the revolving door of probationers. The SNP should be a…
